September is here, school is back in session, and the days are getting shorter. On Friday nights, the cheers from our local high school football stadium are carried to us on the breeze, and I’m in the mood to turn on the oven and have our friends over for a fall harvest feast.
Living in California, we don’t see the seasons like I did growing up on the east coast- which makes it all the more important to mark the passing months and change things up with seasonal decor. A new centerpiece, some accent plates, and the rich, deep hues of harvest season are all it takes to put our guests in the mood for hot mulled cider and apple pie.

Lacquer Chargers from West Elm
Dress up your plain white plates by setting them atop these beautiful lacquer chargers - a layered place setting always makes a statement. I would choose the gold, to play off the natural wood of our dining table - but the deep red is also beautiful for fall.
