September 1st marks the beginning of National Breakfast Month, the time when we all must honor and respect the most important meal of the day. Lucky for you, there are plenty of delicious ways to do that whether you’re on the go or ready to relax.
1. Get Fresh

When in doubt, fresh fruit for breakfast never fails. Blueberries, grapefruit, strawberries, and bananas are four of the best for getting the energy and nutrition to power through the morning.
2. Waffle It
Flickr user Joy
Waffles are breakfast and comfort food combined into an amalgam of yum. No matter what you put in it, it’s hard to make a bad waffle. We proved this with our recent Snack Attack video. If you can’t wait to make your own, try one of Belgian Boys’ Wafel de Liege.
3. Go Greek

While yogurt is great on its own, sometimes the regular stuff fails to keep you full until your lunch break. That’s where Greek yogurt comes in. It’s thicker and creamier and goes great mixed with granola, fruit or seeds.
4. Spoon It
Flickr user DeSegura89
It’s hard to go wrong with some good old-fashioned cereal or oatmeal. Plus it makes you take a second and enjoy the eating before heading off to your busy day.
5. Get A Little Seedy
Flickr user HealthAliciousNess
Flax or chia seeds make the perfect addition to yogurt or smoothies to thicken them up and add extra protein and nutrients.
6. Go Whole (Wheat) Hog
Whole wheats are great any time of day, but at breakfast they’re ideal for a burst of energy to get you going. Try quinoa, whole grain muffins, or even granola bars like this Sheffa Everything Bar
7. Take A Cue From The French
Flickr user Martin Cathrae
Ah, French toast. One of humanity’s greatest inventions, on par with the wheel and lightbulb. And the perfect Saturday morning breakfast indulgence. Especially when you jack it up by stuffing it with fruit or cream cheese, or even adding caramelized sugar.
8. No Holds Bar(red)
So sometimes you don’t have time to sit down for breakfast. That’s okay. And it doesn’t mean you have to resort to just coffee or a doughnut. Try one of these Almond and Coconut KIND bars.
9. Kick Some Cass…erole
Flickr user stevendepolo
Casseroles are another lazy cook’s dream recipe - just mix a bunch of stuff together and throw it in the oven
10. Stay Smooth
Flickr user Joanna Slodownik
Smoothies are the ultimate quick breakfast - just dump everything in a blender. Fruit and yogurt never fails, but give something a little more unusual a shot sometimes, like spinach or kale.
11. Break Out Of Your Shell

Breakfast probably brings eggs to mind for most people already, but there are so many ways to use them besides regular scrambling. Throw them in a coffee cup with some cheese and green onions for a nearly-instant frittata.
