1/4 cup soft butter & olive oil ( 1/2 & 1/2 )
1/4 teaspoon each: basil, oregano, crushed
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup shredded parma cheese
1 loaf (16 oz. size) frozen bread dough, thawed
1 tablespoon water
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons fresh rosemary or basil
prosciutto for wrapping around the breadstick
( optional )
Bake in a moderate oven (375°F) until cooked.
Combine butter & oil oil and all spices. Roll bread dough into 12 inch square. Spread butter mixture over dough. Sprinkle with cheese. Fold dough.
Make sure the spices are spread evenly.
Cut dough into 1/2-inch strips. Twist each strip twice. Pinch ends to seal. Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased sheet.
Cover - let rise in warm place until double in size (30 minutes).
Combine egg and water. Brush over each twist. Sprinkle with rosemary and more parma cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
Keep an eye on the oven, all ovens are diffiernt in temperture. Whatever works best for you 350 or 375 degrees.
When the breadsticks are cool, you can wrap fresh Parma ham around the breadstick and serve with a salad. ( a slice of prosciutto on a breadstick )
any kind of spices or a fresh herbs can be added to breadsticks,sea salt, garlic, black pepper or cheeses. Be creative and enjoy.
