Oriental Braised Pork

1 kg pork tenderloin, whole log
1 tbsp five spice powder
2 cups water
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup dark soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 pcs bay leaf
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 white onion, minced
1/4 cup Chinese Cooking wine
1 tsp peppercorns
2 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp water
salt
1) Marinate pork in soy sauce, five spice powder, garlic, onion, Chinese Cooking wine and salt for at least an hour.
2) Place marinated pork together with water, peppercorns, bay leaf, dark soy sauce and marinade in a pot and let it boil and simmer for 1 hour, turning once.
3) Remove pork from pot then set aside for at least 10 minutes to cool down.
4) Strain the braising liquid and place on a saucepan, add the dissolved cornstarch mixture and simmer until sauce thickens.
5) Slice pork tenderloin thinly then pour sauce on top.
