Steak:
16oz sirloin steak (cut in half for two portions)
2 tbl butter
2 tea black pepper
salt
Sauce:
1 tbl butter
2 tbl chopped onions (perferrable white)
2 c beef broth
1/4 tea black pepper
2 tbl whiskey (whatever you have)
1 garlic clove
1 tea cornstarch
1 tbl water
First start heating up your barbecue grill.
Need a large saucepan or skillet to start making your whiskey steak sauce. Start by lightly browning the onions in the butter on high heat, should only take about 3 minutes.
Once the onions are lightly browned go ahead an add a cup of beef broth to the onions. You can also add your black pepper and garlic too at this moment. Make sure you crush or mice the garlic clove.
Simmer the sauce over medium or medium-high heat until half of the sauce has been reduced. Next, add the remaining cup of beef broth and whiskey and bring the heat down to low. This will allow the sauce to simmer while cooking the steak.
Sauce COMPLETED!!
Next on to our steaks, get out another large pan and get that preheated on medium-high. While that is ready, start to season your steak with the black pepper, if you use fresh crushed black pepper be sure to push the pepper in to the steak to make sure it sticks.
Next place the butter into your preheated pan. As soon as the butter has melted go ahead and add the steaks, we are looking to brown or sear the outside of the steaks before throwing it on the grill. Once the steak has a nice light brown on both sides you can remove the steaks from the pan and carry over to the grill
Next, throw the steaks onto the grill and let each side cook for 3 or 5 minutes. The best steaks are only flipped once, but if you need to flip multiple times to cook the steaks to your liking you are more than welcome too
Steak is done!!
If you wish to thicken the Whiskey sauce before serving your steak feel free to mix your cornstarch into a cold cup of water. Stir to dissolve cornstarch. Slowly pour your mixture into the simmering sauce and watch as it thickens.
