Pickled Dilled Eggs

12 hard boiled eggs, shelled
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
3/4 cup water
1 1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp dill
1 clove garlic, halved
1/2 tsp mustard seed

Optional: 2 tbsp sugar

Firmly pack eggs and onions in a large glass jar. Boil remaining ingredients. Reduce the heat and bring down to a simmer for 5-7 minutes. Pour over eggs and cover completely. Seal the jar and chill for 3 days.

Any extra vinegar mixture can be used to pour over cucumbers.
