Easy Macaroni With Cheese Sauce Recipe

200g macaroni
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup plain flour
2 rashers of chopped bacon
1 onion, chopped
60g butter
Recommended Products
1) Preheat oven to 180C.
2) Add the macaroni to a large pan of boiling water and cook until tender.
3) Melt butter in a large pan.
4) Add bacon and onion.
5) Stir over medium heat for 4 minutes or until onions are tender and golden.
6) Add the flour and stir over low heat for 1 minute.
7) Add milk and stir until smooth.
8) Continue stirring for 4 mins or until mixture thickens and boils.
9) Remove from the heat and stir in the nutmeg.
10) Add pasta and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese to the pan.
11) Stir until all the mixture is combined well.
12) Spoon into a 1 1/2 litre oven proof dish.
13) Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top and bake for around 20 minutes.
14) Serve and enjoy!

Adding an acidic ingredient such as wine or lemon juice will help prevent the cheese from becoming stringy. This is why most fondues have a base of white wine. Simply sprinkle some lemon juice over the shredded cheese before heating it.
