Most chefs or tv cook shows recommend melting chocolate over a double boiler. I find it a hassle as there are too many pots and bowls to wash.
I prefer to melt chocolate in the microwave. Put chocolate in a big bowl (and other ingredients you were supposed to melt the chocolate with, e.g. butter), heat it up in the microwave for 20 secs. Take the bowl out, give it a stir. If chocolate is not melted, put it back to microwave and heat it for another 20 seconds. Take it out and stir. Repeat till chocolate is melted and reached the consistency you desire.
