Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars! That's a tough one... depends on the children's age and if you'll be cooking on a grill or open fire. Pack as much fresh fruit as possible. We used to take bananas and peel back on strip and dump in marshmallow and chocolate. Pull the strip back up and wrap in aluminum foil and lay on the fire coals. Mmmm!

Watermelon is fun during the day and doesn't need refrigeration - you can always put it in the river/lake to cool if you're camping on the water. Another fun thing to do that doesn't require refrigeration is bring russet potatoes, wrap them in foil and throw them in the coals of the fire to cook until soft - makes for easy baked potatoes :)

If you want to do some "real" cooking, bring a dutch oven that you can set on the grate over the fire. Dutch ovens are awesome for camping and you can make anything from pancakes to cornbread to soup in them.
