Meet Dolcetto
Dolcetto is Fusion Gourmet's premium, all natural brand for their family of wafers which includes our European-style rolled wafers, wafer “petites” (bite-sized, chocolate filled cookies), wafer “crepes” (delicate layered wafers filled with cream) and traditional wafer squares. They offer a broad flavor profile that includes popular flavors (e.g., Chocolate, Hazelnut, Vanilla) as well as emerging flavors/trends (e.g., Toasted Coconut, Ginger Spice, Cinnamon Latte, etc.)
Fusion Gourmet is a privately-held, Minority & Woman Owned Organization based in Gardena, CA that was founded in 1999. They are part of a family-owned group of food manufacturing facilities in Indonesia that produce various consumer products ranging from cookies to candies. Although their primary goal is to ensure product quality & food safety, they are just as committed to various environmental, social and humanitarian causes as a US company as well as an internationally-based manufacturer:
Protecting the Environment: Fuision Gourmet is committed to practicing sustainability and it respects the manufacturing process, namely the sourcing of certain raw materials (e.g., palm oil). Products are not sourced from the conversion of rainforest ecosystems and they work with suppliers who also understand this environmental impact.
Humanitarian causes / Support of Women & Children: As a Woman & Minority Owned Organization, Fusion Gourmet has a particular interest with humanitarian causes in support of women and children. For example, in the US, they are corporate donors to the Justice for Murdered Children (a victim’s rights advocacy organization) and the Down Syndrome Research & Treatment Foundation.
In Indonesia, they hire local workers, most of whom are women. With a population of 300 million and high unemployment rate, they provide jobs that in turn provide women the ability to access health care, education for their children and raise their families. The Sumatra coffee bean and black cocoa in their candies & cookies are indigenous to the Javanese Islands. This is another way Fusion Gourmet supports the Indonesian farmers & their future generations.
Giving Back: In the US: they are ongoing contributors to the Los Angeles Food Bank. They are also a very active vendor with Whole Foods Market’s various humanitarian initiatives including their Whole Planet Foundation (which is a private, nonprofit organization established by Whole Foods Market to help alleviate poverty). Over the years, Fusion Gourmet has donated several hundred cases of our various candies, wafers and cookies to Whole Foods, where 100% of the sales and/or product were allocated directly to their respective causes. In the Asian South Pacific region, Fusion Gourmet factories worked closely with the ICRC (International Committee of Red Cross) to provide food, water & supplies to the hardest hit areas after the recent tsunami. During the 2004 tsunami in Aceh (located on the northern end of Sumatra) and the 2006 Yogyakarta Earthquake (located in central Indonesia), Fusion Gourmet provided over 300,000 packs in a 3-4 week period. The packs consisted of basic food needed for survival (e.g., dried chili, corned beef, water, etc.).
