Meet Akiva Resnikoff, founder of The Cookie Department
My name is Akiva Resnikoff and I started TCD in 2009 with $100 in the bank and sold to only five cafes. I ran every aspect of this business on my own from baking to delivering for the first two years. In 2011 I brought in outside help to assist my in growing my business to a national brand. Currently TCD is offered in over 350 stores nationwide and we expect to hit 1000 by the end of 2014.
I started this brand because I was inspired by the functional beverage and bar industry. I wanted to create a first to market product that brought together sweetness and nutritional value. If you're going to eat a cookie, why not get some extra benefits out of it?
At The Cookie Department, we start with classic cookie formulations and fortify them with unique and innovative ingredients like coffee caffeine, rBST free whey protein, superfoods, detoxifying spices, antioxidants and probiotics, giving our customers an extra benefit with every bite.
